Cold, wintery breeze leaves your skin feeling itchy, red and irritated. But there are some simple ways in which you can combat dry winter skin, so that you can feel your best all winter long.

1. Invest in a Humidifier to Maximize Moisture
Make sure to keep a humidifier handy at your home and office. It will add moisture to the dry, winter breeze and keep your skin supple and hydrated. Run a humidifier in your living room or the room in which you spend the most time, including your bedroom.
2. Lower the Thermostat to Avoid Dryness
When it’s freezing outside and you feel like adjusting the thermostat to crank up the heat, just remember that your central heat system can make the air of your house even more dry. It is recommended to adjust the thermostat at a cool yet comfortably warm setting, somewhere between 68°F to 72°F. This will help you maintain a healthy skin.
3. Limit Shower Time and Temperature
You might be tempted to take a long, steamy bath but this is not what your skin needs. As dermatologists suggest, your skin is much better served with 5-10 minutes bath from lukewarm water. You should rather avoid using hot water even while washing your hands as washing or bathing in excessively hot water strips your body from its natural oils, leaving your skin dry and irritated.

4. Moisturize Frequently, Especially Your Hands And Heels
You can maintain a healthy, supple skin simply by moisturizing after washing up, so you no longer have to deal with cracked heels or rough hands or patchy skin. It’s best that you use a cream or ointment which will keep your hands and heels moisturized at all times.
5. Modify Your Facial Skin-Care Regimen
Customize and modify your skin-care regimen during the winter skin. Make sure that you apply cream-based cleansers and apply astringents and toners to keep your skin hydrated. If your skin gets extra dry and itchy, you should completely stop using products which contain alcohol in order to help your skin retain natural oils.
